Turn on Theft Detection Lock
On supported devices, go to Settings → Google → All services → Theft protection and enable Theft Detection Lock.
Google says it can automatically lock the screen when it detects a likely grab-and-run theft.

Set up Remote Lock with a verified phone number. If the phone is stolen, use android.com/lock to lock it remotely.

Use a strong screen lock
Use a strong PIN or password and biometric authentication where available. Google recommends a PIN of six or more digits.

Protect sensitive information
Review banking, payment, email and social apps. Use app-level security features where available and avoid storing sensitive credentials in plain text.

Prepare for offline theft
Supported Android versions include additional protections such as Offline Device Lock and Failed Authentication Lock. Check your device settings to see which are available.
